FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Carlsbad, California - January 21st, 2008 - Spy Optic is pleased to announce the newest addition to its outstanding snowboard team, Finnish phenom and global powerhouse Eero Niemela. Effective immediately, Eero will be rocking Spy Optic, joining the elite ranks of David ‘DCP’ Porcheron, Marc Frank Montoya, Darrell Mathes, Todd Richards, Priscilla Levac, Erik Christensen, Stevie Bell and Louie Vito.

Eero’s riding speaks for itself. His opening parts in the last two WhiteOut Films releases, ‘Wear it Well’ and ‘Season 4′, his spread ad sequence of a frontside seven tailgrab, and editorial in Transworld Snowboarding Magazine’s December ‘07 ‘Wallpaper’, showcase both his own progress and the sport’s as a whole.

Hailing from Ojakkala, Finland, Eero now calls Whistler, British Columbia home. In between contests and traveling, he will be primarily focused on locking down footage for renowned snowboard filmer Mack Dawg’s next release.

Eero was eager to express his excitement, “I’m really stoked on Spy. The whole team is super-sick and they believe in their rider’s opinions! The product is just so good-perfect fit and sick designs. And, the team, I mean, being a part of this program you just can’t go wrong!”

In addition to filling his days riding with the infamous Mack Dawg crew, Eero will be representing Spy Optic along with his other sponsors (K2, Volcom, Monster Energy, Adio, Active, Vestal and Celtek) at the Winter X Games 12 in Aspen, Colorado, January 23rd to 27th. This will be his third Slopestyle appearance at X, and he hopes to better his best performance of a seventh-place finish in 2006.
