Huntington Beach, July 19th - The inaugural gala, “Pipeline to a Cure,” at the Hyatt Regency, Huntington Beach, California on Saturday, July 19th, helped bring increasing global awareness to the devastating disease, cystic fibrosis. With the recent breakthrough of surfing prolonging the lifespan and quality of life for people with cystic fibrosis, the Southern California chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation along with honorary co-chairs and surf legends Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama hosted a successful and touching event. Emily, a CF survivor, gave her testimonial and didn’t leave a dry eye in the house. Her personal life experience of the daily battle of CF allowed those attending the event to truly understand the debilitating disease. Wing Lam, Ed Lee and Mingo Lee, the owners of Wahoo’s Fish Taco, were honored on stage as well for their continued support for the CF Foundation.

Title sponsor PacSun and supporting sponsors helped in generating hundreds of thousands of dollars in support for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. LACarGuy Mike Sullivan donated a Toyota Prius for the opportunity drawing, bringing in over 600 raffle tickets, largely in part to the increasing gas prices! The “super-silent” auction included many donated enticing products, vacations and price-less pieces well worth bidding on. After the silent bidding, touching speeches, car drawings and great food, what better way to close out the inaugural night than special music guest, acoustic SOCIAL DISTORTION. Stacie Perry of PacSun commented, “This event was a huge success. I am glad that PacSun was able to be part of such a great cause.”
