New Zeland rider Will Jackways has joined the Volcom crew according to story on their SITE:
Volcom snowboarding is proud to introduce Will Jackways. World traveler by trade, Southern Hemisphere by birth. Will is a multi lingual character. Fully fluent in Japanese and very knowledgeable in Japan. Will starts his winter quest ripping pow with his mates on the South Island of NZ then jet sets to Japan to the North Island of Hokkaido until the snow turns then off to Europe en route to the Northwest and Canada, he then migrates down to the Sierras for the spring before heading home for the year. He arrives back in NZ for winter at home and start the cycle all over again. Will has been ripping super hard the last couple years and has proven his well-rounded ability in the park, pipe and pow. We couldn’t be more stoked to have him part of the Volcom Snowboarding family!Will on the cover of New Zealand Snowboarder. Will knows, you got to earn those airs!

Volcom is a really good company to watch if you want to see what’s going on in our industry. It’s not too big, and not too small. It’s public so we can see what’s going. Action sports are all it does. It’s apparel so it cuts across snow, skate, and surf and into the broader fashion market. So I read their filings with interest not just to see their numbers, but to help me think about what’s going on in general.

Volcom, Inc. (VLCM) hosted a conference call for investors on April 30 to discuss the company’s first quarter results. Overall the tone of the call was very optimistic although Volcom’s total consolidated revenue for Q1 2009 dropped to $68.3 million from $80.6 million in the same period in 2008.

For the 2009 first quarter, total consolidated revenues were $68.3 million compared with $80.6 million in the first quarter of 2008. Total revenues in the company’s U.S. segment, which includes revenues from the U.S., Canada, Japan and most other international territories outside of Europe, as well as the company’s branded retail stores, were $42.4 million compared with $49.2 million in the prior year period.

VOLCOM TO REPORT 2009 FIRST-QUARTER FINANCIAL RESULTS
AND HOST CONFERENCE CALL ON APRIL 30, 2009
COSTA MESA, CA – April 15, 2009 – Volcom, Inc. (NASDAQ: VLCM) today said it expects to announce its financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2009 on Thursday, April 30, 2009. Volcom plans to issue a news release that day at approximately 4:00 p.m. EDT, immediately following the closing of regular stock market trading hours. Volcom management also will host a conference call at approximately 4:30 p.m. EDT to review the results.
The conference call will be available to interested parties through a live audio Internet broadcast at www.volcom.com. Volcom intends to utilize this webcast event to discuss financially oriented goals and objectives and to disclose material company and industry-based topics in an open manner. The company does not plan to report or comment on its progress during the current fiscal quarter.
