Over the last week, some of the best athletes in action sports came together to compete in surfing, snowboarding, and skateboarding. Transworld Business sat down with Ultimate Boarder mastermind Tim Hoover to find out how it feels to tear up a $3.5 million check and stay true to the sports you love.

The Encinitas, Calif. native was honored as the first ever Ultimate Boarder surfing champion. Snowboarder Shayne Pospisil caught the wave of the day, which propelled him into the lead for the skateboarding finals on April 19.

In an exciting end to a beautiful weekend in Squaw Valley, Calif., the first stage of the first-ever Ultimate Boarder™ competition went off in flawless conditions as a group of 45 of the world’s best action sports athletes took to the state-of-the-art slopestyle snowboard course.

An extraordinary field of professional and amateur action sport athletes from around the world highlight the inaugural Ultimate Boarder™ competition. The core action sport triathlon will feature a slopestyle snowboard competition in Squaw Valley, Calif., Sunday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
