Telluride, CO – Telluride Ski Resort announced the appointment of the new Telluride Ski and Snowboard School Executive Director. Fred Rumford previously held the General Manager position at the Beaver Creek Adult Ski and Snowboard School from 2003 – 2008. Bringing extensive experience to the Telluride Ski Resort, Rumford supervised children’s programs in Vail from 1997-2001 and held the GM position of Vail’s Lionshead Children’s Ski and Snowboard School from 2002-2003.
“I am very excited about this new chapter in my life, the bright future of Telluride, and working with an industry leader in Ski and Snowboard School instruction,” said Rumford. “I am truly honored to be joining such a progressive team at an exceptional resort.”
Mr. Rumford has been a leader in re-structured hiring practices for instructors, resulting in a more favorable ratio of 60% part-time and 40% full-time instructors, while increasing over all staff size from 300 hundred to 500 Instructors at Beaver Creek. His professional achievements include Level 3 Certified-PSIA-RM, Children’s Accredited, 1st Place-2000 European Powder 8 Championships, 3rd Place-2001World Powder 8 Championships, 1st Place- 1997 World Alpine Synchronized Skiing Championships, Head Judge 2005-07 National Powder 8’s, Coached Beaver Creek Men’s Demo Team to a 5th place finish in Swiss National Synchronized Championships, 3rd Place 2008 National Powder 8 Championships.
“We are extremely pleased to have Fred Rumford join as our new Executive Director of the Telluride Ski and Snowboard School,” said Dave Riley, CEO of the resort. “I am impressed with his broad ski industry experience, proven leadership, and the passion he brings in terms of customer service.”
Fred’s personal interests include alpine, nordic and cross country skiing, snowboarding, scuba diving, golf, hiking, biking, travel and family. Fred will be on site September 9th and will be joined by his wife Crissy and nine year old daughter Lilly to the area shortly thereafter.
Telluride Ski Resort starts construction July 7th on the new Revelation Lift, cited to open for the 2008-2009 season and offer access to European style, backcountry terrain.
