Snowboarder Announces Builders for Superpark 13

Snowboarder Announces Builders for Superpark 13: Superstition in the Sierras presented by Gatorade
San Juan Capistrano, CA (April 28, 2009) – Loons, Mammoths and Bears oh my! The industry renowned park crews from Loon, Mammoth and Bear Mountain resorts have been invited to combine their creative energies to craft a one-of-a-kind terrain park, which will serve as the shredding grounds for Snowboarder’s 13th Annual Superpark.
Mammoth Mountain, California is set to host their sixth Superpark; one of the largest and most anticipated non-competitive exhibitions by snowboarding’s top male athletes. Oren Tanzer, Director, Y.A.S Marketing is “Stoked to have Superpark 13 back at Mammoth Mountain.” Mammoth’s legendary Chair 4 South Park is the canvas on which the crews will unleash their creative juices. “The opportunity to work with such amazing park builders from Bear and Loon Mountains is icing on the cake,” continues Tanzer, “I am 100% positive that this year’s park will be the best to date and set a new standard for future Superpark events!”
Bear Mountain, like Mammoth, has a five year history with the Superpark tradition and their build crew has developed a reputation for the inventive style they bring to the table each year. Snowboarder’s Superpark “Is the one event that everyone in the snowboard community waits for in order to witness true progression in building and in riding,” say Clayton Shoemaker, Park Development and Marketing Coordinator at Bear Mountain. “On behalf of all the builders at Bear Mountain, we are extremely eager to be a part of Superpark 13. Mammoth always has a healthy pile of snow to push around and the Unbound Crew never fails to show us a good time. We are also very thrilled to work with Loon and to see what they have up their sleeves for their very first Superpark.”
Not only is this Loon Mountain’s first Superpark, but this year marks the first time an East Coast crew has received an invitation. “Superpark has been a great part of our sport for many years, and Loon is proud to bring some East Coast flavor to the festivities!” remarks Jay Scambio, Loon Terrain Park Development Manager. “We have always pushed the envelope in our parks to progress snowboarding and have some fun while doing it…which is exactly what I think Superpark is all about.” That constant pushing of the envelope is what caught the attention of Snowboarder Magazine. When asked what it was that made Loon Mountain stand out,Snowboarder’s Editor, Pat Bridges replied that it was their “long standing commitment to the progression of snowboarding and their overall attention to detail making amazing parks,” that made everyone take notice. In fact, Snowboarder is not alone in this recognition. Loon Mountain has received industry wide accolades for their achievements and has been coined the best park in New England. Brian Norton, Loon Terrain Park Manager, reflects on the influence of the Superpark establishment, “As the first East Coast resort to take part in Superpark, myself and the rest of the crew at Loon are stoked to be a part of this influence and take part in its history. We can’t wait to get to Mammoth and start pushing.”
