Skiing, Deals, and Events Still Take Center Stage at Ski Country Resorts

Denver, Colo. – March 20, 2009 – Although the first day of spring is upon us, ski season in the Rockies is still in full swing. This spring, Colorado Ski Country USA’s 22 member resorts offer calendars full of events, packages teemed with value, and mountains primed for skiing and riding. From half-price tickets to buy two, get two deals, plenty of savings can be found in the creative deals resorts are offering. And with events scheduled well into May, plenty of fun can be had up in Ski Country this spring. Below is a sampling of some of the late season events and specials at Colorado resorts.

Arapahoe Basin’s Spring Only Pass provides unlimited access to the resort for the remainder of the season, which goes well into May and is the longest season in Ski Country. Pass holders receive additional perks such as one day at Silverton Mountain, a free group lesson with the Arapahoe Basin Snowsports school, and discounts for food and beverages. Events are happening through the end of the season at A-Basin. The Beach Party and 8th Annual Festival of the Brewpubs, and Shakin’ at the Basin May Concert Series happens on May 24th. Echo Mountain has extended its hours for spring break. The resort is usually closed on Tuesdays, however it will be open to the public on Tuesday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 31 from 9am to 9pm. Loveland Ski Area has a Ski and Stay Package that offers one night lodging for two in Clear Creek and Summit counties and two lift tickets. Packages start at $115.

On April 25th, Loveland hosts the 7th annual Corn Harvest benefit ski party for the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. On April 4th, the resort holds it 4th Annual Kayaks on Snow event. This unique Boatercross event sends multiple kayaks down a specially constructed course on the Freeway run. On March 28th, the resort hosts SlushSprocket Bike Race, a cycling competition that takes place through the spring snow. Spectators enjoy watching participants try to stay on their bikes. At Silverton there are no groomed runs and no cut trails, just loads of nature’s finest black diamond skiing. Telluride announced plans to keep two lifts running for an additional week after the scheduled resort close date of April 5th. All Telluride season passes will be valid through April 12th. Non-pass holders will find adult ticket prices reduced to $50, with senior and child tickets for $25. Additionally, $25 tickets will be offered to season pass holders from any other ski resort in North America.

Saturday March 21st is the New Belgium Scavenger Hunt. This is a benefit for Telluride Adaptive Sports Program with Prizes, Party and a chance to win a New Belgium cruiser.
