Active Ride Shop Auctioned Off To Florida Investors For $5.2 Million

According to reports from The Press Enterprise, A Florida-based limited liability company called Active Sports Lifestyles entered a winning bid of $5.2 million to purchase Active Ride Shop in an auction ordered by the US Bankruptcy Court in Riverside, California today. Zumiez, which recently showed interest in acquiring the chain of stores was not among the final bidders.

SHOP NEWS: Laguna Surf & Sport Owner Eric John talks about his 25 years of retailing in Southern California.

On July 21, Volcom announced plans to acquire Laguna Surf & Sport from longtime Owner Eric John. Days later in the company’s Q2 conference call Chairman/CEO Richard Woolcott told investors “The multi branded concept of the LS&S stores is a little different for us, but we believe it helps diversify our retail business by providing us with greater insight about our customers and market trends.” Woolcott also says the stores will keep the same product mix and employees.
