The Skate Shop Showcase, held Saturday, June 20 at L.A.’s The Gallery 1018, attracted a crowd of more than 500 people geared up to support the art scene and the skate industry on Go Skateboarding Day eve. Photos of the night’s festivities can be found here.

The Skate Shop Showcase, an event that gives skate shops a designated amount of wall space to design however they see fit, will be held starting at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20, in downtown L.A. at Gallery 1018. Not only will the event help highlight skate shops across the country, but it also happens to fall on the eve of Go Skateboarding Day. What better reason is there to get out and show some support?
The showcase is presented by Ollie Pop, which will also be holding an Art of Sk8 charity contest, encouraging skate shops to submit the most original skate-inspired pieces. The grand prize winner will take home $500 worth of Ollie Pop bubble gum and get featured on a commemorative event package of Ollie Pop. Entries will be used to raise money and awareness for charities that support the arts, skateboarding and children’s causes, according to a recent press release.

Manhattan Beach, CA. (May 18, 2009) - Skate Shop Showcase is a night dedicated to the Skate Shops allowing them to do what they do best - unite the skate community through music, art and culture. The concept is simple… each store will be given a designated amount of wall space within the show. They are free to design their space however they see fit. The 2006 Skate Shop Showcase saw everything from a full-blown build-out, hanging branded merchandise, painting on the walls (acrylic and aerosol) as well as stores contributing bands, dj’s and tons more.

Protect Our Winters and Ollie Pop have teamed up to host what they’re calling an All in Charity Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament to benefit POW and the winner will win a seat at the 2009 World Series of Poker. The event will take place on Tuesday, January 27 at the Hard Rock and seats are still available.
