Skullcandy Partners With Metallica

Skullcandy, a developer of core audio products, announces its partnership with Metallica for the band’s ninth studio album, “Death Magnetic”,
being released on Friday, September 12th. The first collaboration of its kind, the partnership introduces Metallica-branded Skullcandy headphones, Metallica Hesh and Metallica Lowrider.

“For years, Skullcandy folks have been Metallica fans. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to bring the first ever limited edition, Artist Series headphones to the marketplace with such a legendary band,” stated Rick Alden, Founder of Skullcandy. “It’s exciting to be a part of the breaking of a new album with our signature headphones. This is a collaboration that both Metallica and Skullcandy fans will be excited for.”

The Skullcandy Artist Series includes two styles of headphones, both Metallica branded. The Metallica Hesh features 50mm high explosive power drivers, soft snake skin leather earpads, inline volume control and sound-boosting parabolic ear-cups. A must-have for any metal maniac, the Metallica Lowrider packs a monster 40mm power driver in a small lowrider chassis and includes smooth styling, 90 degree swivel, DJ-style speakers, and a unique fold-up headband for portability.

“Releasing Death Magnetic is another milestone for us, as is our collaboration with Skullcandy for the Metallica headphones,” stated Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo. “This is a great opportunity for us to give our fans a new way of listening to our music.”

The new limited edition Metallica/Skullcandy headphones will be available mid September, 2008 around the globe.
