DC announced today that Torstein Horgmo will now ride for its professional snow team. Horgmo, who was a part of the am team for the past three years, had a great season this winter, winning the Slopestyle at the second Dew Tour in Vermont and coming in third at the final Dew Tour stop at Northstar Resort. Here’s an official statment from DC, congratulating Horgmo on his accomplishments:
“April 30, 2009 – VISTA, CA— Congratulations to Torstein Horgmo, the latest rider to join DC’s professional snowboard team. On the DC am squad for three years, Torstein has been a constant on the Big Air and Slopestyle podiums this season, and his distinctive riding style make him the perfect addition to the exclusive list of elite DC pro riders.
“From the moment I met Torstein at Superpark three years ago, I knew there was something special about his riding,” said Zack Dalton, DC Snow Team Manager. “Torstein is the complete package from the insane focus on his competition riding, to the meticulous attention paid to his style. It is a pleasure to welcome him to our pro team.”
Torstein’s been an undeniable threat in competition this Winter season. In early January 2009, he took first in Slopestyle at the second Winter Dew Tour in Vermont, and then followed it up by snagging first place at the third and final Winter Dew Tour stop at Northstar Resort this past February. His long list of accomplishments goes on to include Big Air win at X-Trail in Tokyo, a Silver in the Winter X Games 13 Big Air event, first place in Slopestyle at the Burton Australian Open this past September, and a Best Trick win at Oakley Stylewars in August. Torstein also earned a Gold medal in the Big Air event at Winter X Games 12 with his Switch BS 1260. His video parts include his segment in Standard’s’ Aesthetica, and DC’s MTN.LAB 1.5, most notably his frontside 720 tailgrab alongside Ken Block’s rally car aerial attack in the New Zealand Snow Park session, which also landed the cover of “Snowboarder Magazine.”
