Nike put out a press release on its quarterly earnings two days ago and held a conference call on their results yesterday. This has all happened before the actual 10Q with all the detailed information and footnotes is available. So on the one hand, I’d like to be timely and have this done before everybody loses interest, but on the other hand I’d like to have the best information I can have before expressing an opinion. The new Nike 6.0, Hurley and Converse concept store at 225 Forest in Laguna Beach had a grand opening party and industry tour last Thursday and Friday, July 2-3, and the Biz Network has all the details.
Agenda’s Aaron Levant was up in Laguna on Thursday for the festivities and came away with some great party photos, including shots of the Nike ID studio on the shop’s second floor allowing people to customize their own T-shirts and boardshorts. He also had a chance to catch up with RVCA’s PM Tenore and Hurley’s Paul Gomez.


TW Business Publisher Rob Campbell was on the scene at 225 Forest on Friday, talking with Hurley President Bob Hurley, CEO Roger Wyett and VP of Branding/Marketing Adrian Nyman. He also got a first hand demonstration of the custom sublimation process from Mike Voeghtlin, the GM of 225 Forest. Take a look:

Nike, Inc. released financial statements for the third quarter, ended Feb. 28, posting a 2 percent decline in revenues from last year. Net income for the period was down 46 percent to $243.8 million, or 50 cents per diluted share, compared to $463.8 million or 92 cents per diluted share in the same period last year.

The Converse One Star collection is being expanded at Target Stores this Fall season, and now covers denim, knit dresses, sweaters, graphic tees and outerwear, as well as new vintage-inspired accessories, according to a report in Women’s Wear Daily. The rock ’n’ roll-inspired accessories include canvas totes, metallic totes, bowler bags, pinstriped satchels, striped neck scarves, fingerless gloves, crested fedoras, page-boy caps and stocking scarves.
An advertising campaign features real people with the theme “everyone is a star.” The fall Converse One Star campaign includes television commercials, online advertising and outdoor media.
