CHAOS Headwear Shows Record Growth During Economic Downturn

Steamboat Springs, CO- October 22nd 2008. Chaos shows record growth in their third quarter. This custom specialty brand, continues to open new doors and forge new partnerships through grass roots marketing and a dedicated national rep force.

The real news is Chaos headwear has experienced its 4th largest month in sales orders and inventory shipped in US Chaos history.  June started with a bang at 25% above annual sales, July remained equal to June and August was 18% over June and July, and this September has surpassed the largest ‘07 numbers by 35%!  US Sales Director, Gary Supple reports that October has not slowed a bit. “Overall we have 45% growth in all the Chaos sectors.” Chaos projects the next quarter to also close well above last season 2007.

Chaos can attribute this success to all of the following: new specialty and sport retail accounts, additional partnership accounts, and regional program accounts. The new accounts and alliances reflect the stronger than ever product mix offered by our specialty headwear division, as well as the technical headwear solutions by CTR- Chaos Thermal Regulation; all of this combined with custom program hat selections, quality, competitive margins, and exceptional service add up to more sales.

Supple explains some of this phenomena, “We are seeing in this looming recession, a behavior, that larger accounts are spending more on accessory items and co-brand partnership in a recession…all this helps the brands make up for the short comings in outerwear and hard goods.”

This year Chaos will not only attend the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City, 2009 and the SIA-Snow Sport show in Las Vegas, 2009 they also have plans to expand to ASR-Action Sports Retailer in San Diego 2009 and the Accessory Show in Las Vegas 2009.

“ ‘It’s now more important than ever to consumers—and accessories have become the focal point. Consumers have demonstrated a whole new dimension in their love of accessories, as well as a new willingness to ‘invest’ in pieces that update their wardrobes.’ The most growth has occurred at the upper and moderate tiers, say experts—with brands and stores clamoring to add better merchandise,” Accessories Magazine industry report, 2008”
