2010/11 Binding Trends

A Kaleidoscope Of Colorways
A rainbow of binding hues will brighten next year’s walls and add some flare to the workhorse of the hardgoods realm. While colors in other categories are toning down, bindings are coming out blaring with solid, bright colors. Graphics are being toned back but a number of companies are offering looks and accents that kit up nicely with boards to help push packages.

Speed Sells
“Speed entry is as much a buzz as Rocker boards,” says Flow President Anthony Scaturro. With that in mind, look for a variety of new models and technologies as the proprietary tech search spreads across categories to include the backdoor entry.

Rocker Focused Flexes
Numerous binders for the next decade promise to improve board feel and work better with reverse camber shapes by allowing the particular camber under foot to function as intended by using softer materials and two hole discs that decrease dead spots.

Space Age Material Mania
There are a ton of new materials hitting the market next year that promise improved flex where you need it, serious longevity, and near levitation like lightness. Urethanes will be prevalent as will cored aluminums and plastics. Union is even introducing MetaFuse™ Nanometal/Polimer Hybrid Technology that uses matter 1/75,000 the size of the human hair to strengthen and lighten select binders.
