DROP MFG launched the DROP Pure Inspiration (DPI) Series last year as a tribute to athletes and artists who inspire the brand and shape the lifestyle it represents. For 2009/2010, DROP is proud to release its second DPI Series glove featuring artwork by San Francisco’s nature-loving creative force, Bigfoot.
In celebration of this unique union, the VAC II pipe glove from DROP’s new eco-friendly Verde Series had the distinct honor of serving as a canvas for the DPI Bigfoot glove ($55). Sporting a custom design by the acclaimed yet reclusive artist, Bigfoot’s highly-anticipated glove features recycled three-layer thermal ply soft shell fabrics.
“We couldn’t be more excited and humbled to have teamed up with Bigfoot for this year’s DPI glove,” says DROP Senior Designer, Chris Gougeon. “His unique style has been an inspiration to us for years, and his ability to take influences from nature and bring them to an urban landscape is something that’s always resonated with us. Plus, he truly is the perfect artist to help launch our Verde Series.”
Inspired by nature, ‘70s-era comics, graffiti and the legendary rock band, KISS, Bigfoot is a New Jersey native now living in Northern California. In 1998, after a brief stint at the San Francisco Art Institute, he joined forces with pro skater Matt Field to co-found IPATH Footwear. Bigfoot’s signature artwork has been exhibited at galleries spanning the globe, and has graced the pages of Juxtapoz, Tokion, Vapors and other influential publications. DROP and ELM COMPANY Team Up for Exclusive Collaboration Glove
Each season DROP partners with a like-minded brand to create a special edition glove that incorporates the best creative ideas from both parties resulting in a true original.
For the 2009/2010 season, DROP linked up with renowned headwear maker, ELM COMPANY, for a streetwear-inspired makeover of the new VerTex GTX pipe glove. ELM’s design squad utilized a sophisticated blend of leathers and denim to create the absolutely “fresh to death” DROP x ELM collaboration glove ($55).
“At DROP we like to surround ourselves with people and brands that share our ideas and goals,” states Gougeon. “ELM’s incredible attention to detail, superior quality and contemporary yet timeless design aesthetic made them a natural fit for this year’s collaboration.”
