Costa Mesa, CA – September 2, 2009 – COMUNE, the contemporary streetwear and creative culture brand, presents “Karlson Tea Party”, a Motorcycle and Adam Wright Photography exhibition at their Costa Mesa headquarters on Saturday, September 26th at 5pm*. Select motorcycles chosen for their historic importance and/or design excellence will be on display, as well as photography by the renowned Adam Wright, best known as the man behind Road Course and Hauler series photo magazines who uses his Leica camera with no flash and just one lens to capture his legendary images.

The exhibition is curated by industry guru, Nelson Kanno, a well-known journalist and contributor to the popular online blog, Church of Choppers.  COMUNE founder, Frank Delgadillo, hopes this exhibit will bring a creative spotlight to both the apparel industry and the motorcycle world.  “I’ve had a Harley since I was 18 and never stopped loving the concept of motorcycles as an art form,” states Delgadillo.   “Mr. Shinya Kimura (exhibiting builder) once told me during my travels to Japan, ‘it’s easy to hide cables and wires, but it’s difficult to keep cables and wires exposed while making it look cool and clean.’ This quote has had great influence on my style and the design of COMUNE apparel”.

Exhibiting Motorcycle builders include:

Shinya Kimura.  Formerly known as the founder of “ZERO” or the so-called “ZERO Style” motorcycles and owner of Chabott Engineering where he builds custom motorcycles and creates functional art by infusing his philosophy and aesthetic values into his sculpturally unique and rolling designs. www.chabottengineering.com

Brawny Built.   Brandon “Brawny” Holstein, a Hawaiian transplant currently residing in Long Beach, CA. Brandon has a tendency to blend more modern engines and parts with the basic framework from yesterday. With this combination, Brandon is known for creating one-off motorcycles built for today’s more demanding riding conditions. His bikes can range from a compact performance induced chopper to a street-fighting canyon carving hot rod.  www.brawnybuilt.com

Trevelen of SuperCo. Growing up around motorcycles and custom cars, it was pure fate for this man to build traditionally styled ground-scraping low riders and Harley-powered choppers. Being one of the first Hispanic bike builders to gain mainstream notoriety in today’s custom motorcycle scene, Trevelen of Super Company Customs aka SuperCo, always manages to surprise with his styles.  www.sccla.com

Chopper Dave. Known for his “period correctness” and one of the original revivalists of the 60’s metal-flake styles so popular with custom motorcycles today, Chopper Dave influenced thousands to build their own bikes in the garage and hit the streets. Born and raised in Southern California, Chopper Dave has become a local historian of sorts for all things race and custom with American motorcycles of decades past. www.chopperdaves.com

JoMo Racing. JoMo Racing - In 1940 Johnson Motors Inc. shortened its name to JoMo for all racing events, sponsoring their own riders, including Ed Kretz and legendary racer/stuntman Bud Ekins. JoMo was responsible for developments that pushed Triumph Motorcycles to release new US market only models designed specifically for racing, such as the TR6SC “Desert Sled”. The fall of 2009 marks the reintroduction of JoMo Racing into the motorcycle marketplace with a product line designed around Triumph Motorcycle’s “Modern Classics” and the ultimate goal of a return to racing. www.jomoracing.com

Lossa Engineering.
Growing up with both sides of the family owning motorcycle dealerships, so it was only natural for Jay LaRossa to end up building customs cars and motorcycles. Using 60’s and 70’s Italian and Japanese bikes as a base, traditional style cafe’ racer style bikes are created with a slight twist. One-off customs blending classic looks with modern handling and power. www.lossaengineering.com
