Press Release

D&E Ski and Snowboard Shop will host the inaugural “Art and Sole” event in the plaza outside of their Aspen, Colo. location on Saturday, June 20 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Local artists Jon Strieby and Matt Neuman will be painting shoes on site.  As customers buy a pair of TOMS shoes, they will be invited to share a brief thought or vision with one of the artists, then the artist will bring their vision to life.

“To be put on the spot and be expected to paint shoes that people will actually appreciate and want to wear is both daunting and exciting,” says artist Matt Neuman.  “I like the idea of seeing signature Neuman kicks walking around Aspen.”

DJ Paris, presented by Skullcandy, will also be spinning in the Plaza starting at noon, entertaining the crowds.

“For every pair of shoes sold, TOMS gives away a pair of shoes to a child in need,” says Carmen Barber, Director of Rental/Retail Sales and Marketing, Aspen Skiing Company. ”Because building a sustainable planet aligns with the beliefs here at Aspen Skiing Company, we are teaming up with this likeminded organization to put on an event for the community.”

D&E Ski and Snowboard Shop and Four-Mountain Sports, the rental and retail shops owned by Aspen Skiing Company, have implemented environmentally friendly products; including the use of the ski industry’s first natural ski/snowboard wax, organic clothing, cloth bags and bio-degradable bags.

Additional Weekend Discounts:
Food & Wine Pass Holders are invited to stop in D&E Ski and Snowboard Shop anytime from June 18 – 22 to receive the following discounts: 10 percent off any retail purchase, 20 percent off all Aspen/Snowmass logo products and 20 percent off of all bike rentals.
