Zimtstern has been investing in the future with the launch of a new winter 2010/11 collection designed to meet the requirements of 8 to 14-year-old rookie snowboarders. The Stars Collection is not merely the little brother of the Zimtstern Collection, rather it has its own silhouettes and designs that highlight the fun and pleasure of snowboarding for kids.

Brand founder and father of two, Thomas Meyer, knows what matters when it comes to creating outerwear for the stars of tomorrow, “Appealing design represents only one side of the coin. At the end of the day, it’s the fit and functionality that must prove their on-snow performance” he said. Every item of the Stars Collection has been designed to fit the needs and body dimensions of young riders. Zimtstern hired Claudia Meyer to develop the cuts and designs of this collection. It was Claudia who created the first-ever Zimtstern jacket back in 1995.

The collection includes three snowboard jackets and two pants for boys, and two jackets and a pant for girls. Complementing the outerwear is a range of accessories such as beanies, the New Era cap, pipe gloves, thermal base layers, a snowboard bag and a snowboard helmet (in cooperation with TSG), as well as streetwear clothing. Vivid colours like green, yellow, purple, red and/or blue in colorblock with a large-area star design, as well as various all-over designs form the overall impression of the collection. The look is completed by an assortment of technical features and a high degree of functionality.

“To ensure that it’s not only perfect snow and weather conditions that make the snowboard season unique, we have integrated special technical solutions into our outerwear, which guarantee easy handling for both kids and their parents,” explains Thomas Meyer. To help out parents and mini-riders all jackets and pants are inter-connectable via the zipper along the jacket’s snow gaiter in order to prevent snow and moisture from entering. Hoods are large enough to be worn over the helmet. For safety reasons, Zimtstern decided not to incorporate an elastic band with drawstring, but used an elastic Lycra insert that is perforated at ear’s height to ensure that hearing is not impaired either.

The snow gaiter in the pants can be fully opened via a Velcro closure, providing easy access to the boots. A sound pocket and goggle case are included in the standard features of the line and Zimtstern has equipped all outerwear garments in the Stars Collection with the Recco avalanche safety system. Furthermore the whole Stars Collection is bluesign®-certified. The bluesign® standard represents textiles that pose no health hazards, are produced environmentally friendly and conserve resources wherever possible.

The retail price for snowboard jackets ranges from around 249 to 319 CHF (169 to 199 EUR) while pants sell for approximately 149 to 189 CHF (95 to 125 EUR). The collection will be presented to retailers for the first time at ISPO Winter 2010.

Plus Zimtstern will present once again the Iceripper Junior Open in the resorts of Laax and Davos in Switzerland and a team of rookies will be formed to hit the snow in the upcoming winter season.
