Vail and Beaver Creek Resorts Name New Directors of Marketing

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE - Vail and Beaver Creek, Colo.—Sept. 8, 2008—Vail and Beaver Creek Resorts announced today that Adam Sutner has been named the new Director of Marketing for Vail Mountain and Caragh McLaughlin will be the new Director of Marketing for Beaver Creek Resort. In their roles as marketing directors Adam and Caragh will oversee the development, creative execution and implementation of all marketing and sales efforts at their respective resorts.  They will both begin in their new positions this month.

“Adam’s broad knowledge of brand management combined with his extensive agency experience is a perfect balance to oversee the Vail brand,” said Chris Jarnot, chief operating officer of Vail Mountain. “I’m confident that he’ll lead our talented team in taking the Vail brand to the next level and we look forward to applying his expertise.”

Since 2004, Sutner has served in a variety of senior marketing roles with Polaris Industries in Minnesota where he successfully oversaw brand development, retail marketing strategy, retail research as well as a number of other areas that led to a number one market share position in a highly competitive category.  Prior to that time, Adam spent 12 years working internationally with TBWA Chiat/ Day Inc. to manage the Nissan brand in Europe and the Middle East.

Sutner holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science and art history from Columbia University. He is a passionate skier who has visited Vail yearly since the early 80’s and has a brother who lives in the Valley. Adam will be relocating moving to the area and will join the Vail staff this month.

“Caragh’s expertise stems from a background in large brand development where she led the successful launch of new products, and oversaw the execution of integrated marketing campaigns driving high profits for a variety of products. Her vast knowledge of product placement in international and domestic markets offer Beaver Creek the opportunity to further our brand strength and recognition among a loyal domestic and international audience,” said John Garnsey, executive vice president of Vail Resorts Mountain Division.  “We’re excited to welcome Caragh to the Beaver Creek team.”

McLaughlin recently served as the vice president of marketing and general manger of business development for EMMI (USA) Inc., a leading Swiss dairy company that introduced its products to the United States. From 1998-2007 Caragh worked with brand leaders Horizon Organic Dairy/ Whitewave Foods, Coca Cola and Proctor & Gamble’s Iams pet food line and has marketing experience in Europe. McLaughlin received her bachelor of arts in international studies from Emory University and her master’s of business administration from Cornell University.  She will relocate to the Vail Valley from the Boulder area.
