OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE - November 17, 2008 (Oceanside, CA) - ‘Tis the season of giving and TransWorld Media, a division of the Bonnier Corporation, volunteered to be a drop-off station and toy contributor to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s premiere community action program, Toys for Tots. For over 25 years, TransWorld Media has prided itself in reaching passionate kids through action sports, but more importantly, participating and supporting events that reach out to children who are less fortunate.
By becoming a part of this charitable cause during the holiday season, TransWorld Media, with the help of their staff, readers and clients, is determined to fill boxes with hundreds (or thousands!) of new unwrapped toys to bring hope to children in the community. The local toy collection campaign began in October and will continue through December 22. The toys collected will be distributed on December 23 and 24 to needy children of the community.
In addition to becoming a local drop-off location, TransWorld SURF Magazine–a proud sponsor of the Western Surfing Association–will be supporting another local Toys for Tots drive at the Oceanside Harbor, South Jetty, on December 6 and 7, at the WSA Prime surfing competition. Pro surfers, Marines, media and thousands of spectators will be present. Marines will be collecting unwrapped toy donations on the beach all weekend.
If you would like to make a toy or monetary donation and cannot attend the WSA Prime event, you can bring a new unwrapped toy to TransWorld Media’s headquarters at 353 Airport Road in Oceanside or visit www.toysfortots.org for a drop-off station near you. The TransWorld Media offices will be open for drop-offs Monday through Friday between 8am and 5pm.
