OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE - Denver, Colo. – November 5, 2008 – After an evening of watching states turn red and blue, Colorado awoke this morning to drifts of white. An autumn snow storm made its way across the state overnight, dropping up to 16 inches in some areas. This snowstorm, plus early season snowfall, propels Colorado into its second month of the 2008-09 ski season with two resorts open already and more opening this weekend.

Copper Mountain will open for the season on Friday with fresh snow from last night’s storm. The American Eagle lift and Main Vein trail will open along with the American Eagle Jib Park and Easy Rider learning area.

Also in the Central Mountains, Crested Butte Mountain Resort welcomed 4 inches of powder and is lined up to open on November 26.

Eldora, Powderhorn and Echo Mountain’s early season snowfall have combined with cold temperatures to allow snowmaking, keeping them on track for Eldora and Echo to open in November and Powderhorn in early December.

With more snow predicted in the coming days and Colorado’s ski season underway, Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) will host the 2nd annual Bring Your Skis to Work Day in partnership with Denver Pavilions. On Thursday, November 6th, skiers and riders in the downtown Denver area are encouraged to bring their skis or snowboards to the Denver Pavilions at 16th and Glenarm to receive a free wax from Saucer Wax. Beginning at 8am until 3:30pm, skis and snowboards can be dropped off for waxing and picked up as late at 5pm the same day.

Bring Your Skis to Work Day participants can pick up coupons to the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Expo, taking place at the Colorado Convention Center November 7-9. This year’s Expo will feature Colorado Ski & Golf’s expanded recycling program, where attendees can drop off old and unwanted skis, snowboards, cross-country skis, boots, poles and bindings and do their part to keep equipment out of landfills.
