Upper Montclair, N.J. - SnowMagic® was awarded a contract by Cartoon Network Latin America to create and operate a snowtubing and snowplay park in Mexico City during July 2008. The New Jersey-based recreation company used one of its 50-ton SnowMagic® snowmaking systems to build a snow-arena which Cartoon Network Latin America used to provide a unique active outdoor experience for kids and families. SnowMagic snowmaking systems utilize a patented Infinite Crystals Snowmaking (ICSTM) technology to make snow at any temperature, which will allowed this winter-themed event to take place in Mexico City’s sub-tropical high plateau climate.
Cartoon Network’s SnowMagic® snow park included a learn-to-ski and snowboard slope, a snowplay area and a snow-tubing hill. The 20,000 square-foot snow park was blanketed with one to four feet of snow throughout the two week operation of the venue. The innovative theme park proved to be a successful promotional venture and received compliments from the city and regional governing bodies for offering an unprecedented family recreation opportunity.
For vacation and recreation venues that want to have winter sports and snowplay, SnowMagic® has become a business necessity to ensure white slopes for skiing, snowtubing and snow-play. Currently SnowMagic ICSTM is used to provide wintertainment at installations in the U.S., Europe, Middle East, and Japan.
“We have made snow in 100o temperatures and high humidity in the U.S. and we even have an indoor snowpark in Saudi Arabia; Mexico City presented its own challenges, but SnowMagic is up to the task,” said SnowMagic President Albert Bronander. “Cartoon Network Latin America has generated unbeatable media and consumer excitement by delivering a ‘winter-in-summer experience’ to a city that can go a decade without a winter snowstorm.”
Unlike traditional snowmaking equipment that works only at temperatures significantly below 32F, the ICSTM system works in any temperature by freezing water to create tiny snow crystals regardless of the ambient temperature. Utilizing patented high compression technology, the snow crystals are blown out with explosive force, creating snow with a natural feel and texture, with an average micron size (diameter) of 0.3 millimeters.
