Sean Malto will have no problem “quenching his thirst” in the near future. Today it was announced that the young skater’s success has lead him to a contract with Gatorade. Check out what both Malto and Gatorade had to say:
The Gatorade Company, a division of PepsiCo, announced today the addition of 19-year-old skateboarder Sean Malto to its growing action sports team roster. This is Malto’s first beverage sponsorship deal.
“I’m really excited to be on board with Gatorade,” said Malto. “We usually skate in hot weather for hours on end, and it’s hard to stay focused if you’re dehydrated; Gatorade makes sense for me and for skateboarding.”
Malto has made a significant mark in skateboarding over the last year, rising through the ranks with increasing media coverage and multiple video parts, as well as making the significant move from amateur to pro level status.
“Sean is an amazingly talented individual, and is the perfect addition to the team,” said Kenny Mitchell, action sports team manager with Gatorade. “He shows the style, creativity and skill-set of a skater beyond his years and has rightfully earned the respect from the industry’s heaviest hitters; he will no doubt have an impact on the progression of skateboarding in the years to come.”
Malto joins current Gatorade action sports teammates including fellow skateboarder Chaz Ortiz, snowboarder Ellery Hollingsworth, and BMX rider Nigel Sylvester.
The addition of Malto comes on the heels of a recent sponsorship announcement between Gatorade and Skatepark of Tampa (SPoT) including support of the recent Tampa Pro and the Tampa Am (December 3-6). The Alliance of Action Sports (Alli) also recently announced Gatorade as the title sponsor of the newly enhanced Free Flow Tour Amateur Series, which includes the Summer Free Flow Tour.
