Press Release

Queenstown, New Zealand - Unseasonably warm weather means The Remarkables Ski Area will not open this Saturday June 21 as scheduled.

While a fresh cooler change is expected by mid this week, it’s unlikely to deliver enough snow or snowmaking conditions to open by Saturday, says The Remarkables Manager Ross Lawrence.

“We’re prepped and ready to go as soon as nature plays the game. We’re conducting our staff training and induction sessions this week and everyone’s motivated and ready to go. As soon as there’s snow, we’ll be on it.”

Visitors to The Remarkables this season will enjoy several new features including the new freestyle trail ‘The Stash’, a newly located Snack Shack and two new conveyor lifts in the learners area. Getting there will be easier this year too with 3 new Remarkables Express 4WD buses offering a service from the Station in Queenstown and the base of the access road.
