Quiksilver’s “The Spot” Recognized by the DGA

Quiksilver’s viral video “The Spot,” is quite the spectacle and is on the cutting edge of technology. “The Spot,” produced by Cuker Interactive, has caught the attention of many of the industry’s finest and is also being recognized by the Directors Guild of America winning accolades at Digital Day in Hollywood, CA. According to the release:

“The Spot” was honored as the featured viral video and was presented as an example of utilizing innovative technology to generate publicity and drive successful viral marketing campaigns.

The video has won widespread acclaim for both innovation and technological sophistication. “The Spot” was shot with a Panasonic HVX500 and filmed in 1080i HD footage for post-production work in After Effects, Flash, and Photoshop.

“We wanted to break new ground by using green screen video technology in the in the action sports industry in a completely new way,” said Associate Creative Director Nick Abrams, who directed the video. “We specifically set out to do something that had never been done before in the viral arena.”

“We’ve seen really great results from viral video marketing,” said Aaron Cuker, Marketing Director of Cuker Interactive. “Brands are increasingly using it as an innovative and effective alternative to traditional media. “Quiksilver has received hundreds of thousands of impressions as a direct result of the viral video.”
