Quebec City and Stoneham Mountain Resort were named the host for the FIS Snowboard World Championships in 2013 last week in South Africa.

This marks the first time the Federation Internationale de Ski has awarded an event of this magnitude to Quebec.

Officials from the Canadian Snowboard Federation were overjoyed at the announcement.

“The CSF’s main mission is to support athletes’ sporting development and their personal pursuit of excellence,” said CSF treasurer, Guy Poupart. “What better than to give them a World Cup on their own doorstep every year up to 2012 as well as the 2013 World Championships? The CSF is proud to lend its support to the organizing committee as it plans all these events on the way to 2013.”
