In the past weeks there has been some gnarly news about many skateboarding accidents that are leaving skaters severally injured or even dead. Skateboarders often suffer hard falls that come with high consequences. Recently OLAS books (www.olasbooks.com) has partnered with Sector 9 to educate kids on skateboarding safety and the importance of safety gear. The new book “My Skateboard Book” hopes to teach kids why safety equipment is important and how it can keep them safe in dangerous situations.

Unfortunately, many kids suffer serious injuries even die while skateboarding. These tragic accidents occur due to lack of information regarding safety and because kids constantly choose not to wear helmets and pads. My Skateboard Book teaches about the importance of wearing helmets and pads. This fun, story rhyme begins with how the first skateboard was made and how pads began to be worn. The main characters, Moe and Lani, encounter a bully at a skate park who teases them about wearing safety gear. Moe and Lani show the readers that those who wear pads get to have the next day for fun while those who think they are “too cool” for wearing pads usually end up in the emergency room. This book is intended for children up to age 8. “If just one kid’s life can be saved by creating this book, it will all be worth it!” - CEO Sector 9 Skateboards
