Methven, New Zealand - Skiers and riders enjoyed 18cm (7 inches) of fresh snow at Canterbury’s Mt Hutt today (Monday June 23) and more terrain to play on with the opening of The Towers.

Mt Hutt Assistant Ski Area Manager James McKenzie said the mountain was looking superb and the skiing and riding was fantastic on trail (including Broadway pictured) and off trail.

“We’re loving the new snow and everyone’s having a brilliant time out there, which is what it’s all about,” he said.

“We’ve also been snowmaking for 10 hours today and will resume tonight and into tomorrow when the temperatures are expected to drop again,” he added.

Mt Hutt has a current base of 50cm (20 inches) and all facilities, including the Sky High Café, Skiwiland (day care), Rental and Repair, Snow Shop and Snow Sports School, are open.
