Matix Clothing announced today that it will introduce a new headphone collection, scheduled to hit retail stores October 2009 as a holiday line. Matix will launch the collection with one style of headphone, called The Domepiece (over-ear) headphone, which comes in black and gold, white/red, and camo/black colorways and retails between $69.95-$79.95. More details below:
“For a traditional clothing brand, branching out into the audio category isn’t typical. However, Matix’s Brian Dunlap says the expansion into headphones was both a natural evolution and an exciting venture. “With the massive increase of sales in cell phones and MP3 players, creating Matix branded headphones just makes sense. We see an open product segment and customer base in need of fashion/lifestyle headphones.” —Brian Dunlap, VP Matix Clothing
In the upcoming months of November and January, Matix will release two new custom designed headphone models—the Bulkhead (on-ear) and the Hangover (in-ear). Matix Pro Torey Pudwill will have a rasta-inspired color way on the Bulkhead model, while Matix Pro Jeron Wilson will have a Diamond X Jeron Wilson collaboration on the Domepiece model. The Hangover meanwhile will focus on unique color ways and prints including glow-in-the dark, woodblock, and tie-dye.
The headphones retail for around $75 dollars and will be available at finer skate shops and boutiques throughout the country.”
