L*Space "Glamorously Green" Solid Slinky Swimwear

L*Space recently announced its 2010 “Glamorously Green” Slinky Solid Swimwear line, made from a Sarona fiber which is derived from naturally occurring starch in corn kernels. The full press release follows:

“L*Space is often told that its swimwear is pure genius, but clearly, the company known for cutting-edge bikinis with a fabulous fit had something even more ground-breaking up their sleeve. For 2010, L*Space will produce “Slinky,” one of the brands more popular swim capsules in Sarona, a sustainable produced fabric made partially with agricultural feedstock instead of petrochemicals, which reduces dependency on oil.

The Sarona fiber is made from naturally occurring starch in corn kernels, and approximately 37 percent of the fiber comes from renewably sourced ingredients. The production of this incredible fabric uses less energy and produces less greenhouse gas (than some other swim fabrics), and offers 2-3 times the stretch with recovery than nylon, so L*Space connoisseurs are
guaranteed a perfect fit with every piece.

Being eco-friendly is a sexy concept, but L*Space designer Monica Wise literally adds a heavy dose of sex appeal to being “green.” Incredibly soft and sensuous to the touch, the “Slinky” Sarona fabric is also wrinkle-resistant, which makes it great for packing multiple bikini gems for travel. As of now 16 to 20 glamorously green “Slinky” pieces in solid shades of black, jade, red, and chocolate brown will be getting the green treatment but plans on expansion are in the future.

environment.” Wise states. And although price-points may be a bit higher for this collection ($60 - $72 for “Slinky” per piece); the cause was something that Wise could not ignore and is worth the added expense.
