Cold Distribution, LLC, announced it has signed Artec rider Johnny Miller to its Wire Core Strap (WCS) program. The Gumby like binder straps are formable for easy access, one-footed, long lasting, mustache making fun.
Here’s some info from the press release and your chance to get your hands on some WCS’s:
Cold Dist. LLC is proud to announce signing Johnny Miller as the first team rider for our WCS Wire Core Strap program. We wanted a rider as innovative as our straps and Johnny’s super technical, extra fun style of riding is exactly what WCS is all about. Johnny will make sure the full benefit of our straps is revealed as he continues to take his snowboarding to zany new heights with WCS.
With dramatically increased strength benefits and a reformable flex that allows riders to keep straps out of the way for serious one footed and no footed maneuvers, WCS straps add safety and performance to any conventional binding. But don’t just take our word for it. We will be giving away free sets of WCS straps at our SIA Booth #D74 to all pros, dealers and product managers who come by to check us out. We will also be on hand at the WWSRA Mammoth Demo days February 10-12. So come by our booth in Vegas or see us in Mammoth to bend some straps and ride the future of binding strap design.

I have seen these straps in person and they are a must have. Consider that you will never step on your straps again. When you push them out of the way, they stay put. I was just teaching my girlfriend how to ride and she was surprised that it was so tough to fight with the straps. This new technology will put an end to that. Imagine that you can put your back foot inside the binding every lift ride. This will make learning to snowboard easier and safer. These will be standard equipment on all bindings within the next few seasons. Everyone can benefit from these.

Great product and idea. I have seen them as well, and I am still scratching my head as to why they haven’t been a staple in the industry for the past ten years. Makes total sense and I bet thousands are saying “why didn’t I think of that”. It won’t be long till old regular straps are considered a major inconveince. No reason to not have a set!

It’s strange to see something soooo innovative NOT ALREADY in an industry that prides itself on being the first for so many things.
