The Fuel TV surf series “FINS,” produced by Opper Sports Productions, won its second Emmy Award for “Excellence in a Magazine Show,” for episode 15. Here’s a brief description from Opper Productions about the winning episode:
“The winning “FiNS” Episode 15 follows a crew of five world-class female surfers in Australia as they search for and find remote surf. It also reports on the Surfing Heritage Foundation, the world’s largest project to archive and document surf history. Finally, the episode profiles San Diego’s Brian Conley, one of the world’s most enterprising tube-riders and breakout visionary filmmakers.”
And some comments from Fuel TV and producer Ira Opper about the show’s recent success:
“’We’re honored to have ‘FiNS’ recognized for a second year in a row,’ says Shon Tomlin, FUEL TV VP of Programming and Development. ‘I think we sometimes take for granted how much hard work and talent goes into our programming, so when you get recognized it really gives the whole team a sense of accomplishment. We’re all very lucky to have partners like Ira and his crew creating some of the most entertaining and engaging programs on television.’
‘This recognition for ‘FiNS’ affirms the production team’s passion for the sport,’ says Ira Opper, ‘FiNS’ Producer. ‘We work diligently to showcase surfing in a positive light and the goal has always been to create a genuine vision for all those who tune in.”
”FiNS’ is a magazine-format sports series that captures the progression of modern surfing in the making. Produced by seven-time Emmy Award winning film veteran Ira Opper, ‘FiNS’ gets rare access into today’s surf culture…
In 2008 “FiNS” also won an Emmy for Outstanding Achievement: Magazine Program and the show was nominated for an additional Emmy in the Sportscast category this year.”
