EuroSIMA Presents Snowboard Industry Awards

EuroSIMA’s Mountain Division, the European counterpart to SIMA, brought together luminaries from the global shred community last Friday at its third annual Snowball. The event took place during the SOURCE European Snowboarding Industry Forum, which gathered around 90 international attendees in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
In addition to a hell of a party, the Snowball is also when EuroSIMA presents its Snowboard Industry Awards recognizing “the most outstanding achievements of both brands and individuals in developing the snowboard market in Europe.”
And the winners are…

The SOURCE Breakthrough Brand of the Year recognizes the activities and efforts of a brand that has been seen by the industry to have progressed the most in the year. This year’s winner is the Czech brand Horsefeathers launched by Hanus Salz and Pavel Kubicek in 1993.

The ispo Product Innovation of the Year is awarded to the most innovative product of the selling season 09/10, and selected by an independent jury from the winners of the ispo Boardsports Award. This year winning innovation is the Ride Contraband Nitrane binding offering a new single V-strap entry with increased comfort and optimal fit; in addition with Wedgies for better ride control and ideal energy transmission.

The EuroSIMA Lifetime Achievement Award, voted on by the EuroSIMA Mountain Division Committee, was presented to Peter Bauer who has been an avid snowboarder, a multiple German, European and world champion, and has made a prominent contribution to the development of the sport, business and culture of snowboarding in Europe.
