Press Release

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE - LAKEWOOD, N.J. (September 9, 2008) ? After a successful showing at ASR, Ergophobia, a surf and skate apparel brand for men and women, will show its spring 2009 collection at Surf Expo, booth number 533S.  The spring ’09 line includes men’s boardshorts, denim, cords, fleece, hats and tees for men and women.

“Our design team really killed it terms of function, quality and creativity this season,” said Vice President Pete DiSpirito.  “We hit the ground running at ASR and have a lot of interest and positive feedback from the west coast shops.  Spring ’09 is our most diverse collection to-date and we are stoked to introduce the line to our national retailers at Surf Expo.”

When designing the spring collection, Ergophobia’s motto was “throw out the fillers and keep the bangers.”  Being a young company, Ergophobia wanted to keep their main focus on boardshorts and denim and then design a couple of key, well thought-out pieces to round out the collection.

Six styles are included in the boardshort category and each style is available in two color choices.  The striped and plaid patterns incorporate red, grey, green and black while a little bit of 80s nostalgia is seen on the screen printed boardshorts. Triple inseam stitching, 4-way stretch and heavy megasuede were used in the construction of the boardshorts.

New for spring ’09, Ergophobia has added men’s denim and cords in a variety dark washes like rust, charcoal and dark indigo.  Slim and straight leg styles are available in both denim and cords, and if you want to keep it old school, 90s old school that is, then check out the baggy fit “Ronnie Creager” signature denim.

Many of the graphics in the spring collection are inspired by art, advertisements and media from the 1970’s and 1980’s.  Screen prints such as “Kitty”, “Guntronic” and “So What” are some of the favorite pieces in the t-shirt collection.

The spring ’09 collection hits retailers in January with retail price points ranging from $21.00 to $69.00. Ergophobia’s pro surf team includes Shea Lopez, Wesley DeSouza, Matt Keenan, Luke Ditella, Josie Graves, Jensen Callaway, Alejo Marin and Brendan Buckley.  Ergophobia’s pro and am skate team includes Ronnie Creager, Gary Smith, Robert Lopez, Andrew Cannon, Shawn Hale, Tom Geilfuss and Ki Realer.

About Ergophobia
Ergophobia: An intense or abnormal fear of work, corporate America, cubicles, commuting, and living a lifestyle marked by lack of originality or distinction.  We are living in the age of negotiation… destruction with the goal of creation, participation without purpose and machines crazier than the people who use them.  Humans act as electrical sockets in post-cultural societies to slow cook a global crock-pot of bullshit.  Fax machines are played out and cubicles burn with black smoke; get ergo-phobic.  Ergophobia creates a range of high quality denim, boardshorts, fleece, wovens, tees, and accessories.  For more information or to view the current line of products visit www.ergophobia.com.

Ergophobia is around my local town…where they’re known as Ergayphobia. They have no start-up story that is inspirational because they were basically given a SHIT LOAD of money. But that’s not what deters the locals from them…it’s their cocky attitude. The name definitely fits them well because they never worked a day in their life…their afraid of hard work and mock 99% of us who actually have to work. They want us to buy their products to maintain their lifestyle…fuck that!

    Dear Stoked247,
Not sure if you’ve heard but every start-up needs a little cash to get off the ground…cash comes from INVESTORS. Maybe you should stop working sooo hard and pick up a “Business 101″ book. If you knew ANYTHING about Ergophobia, which clearly you don’t, you would know how hard they’ve worked in the past and now which directly INSPIRES their Ergophobia line (I’ve seen the spr. ‘09 line and it’s one of the most original labels out there right now).
    Kindly,
    A fellow local

Ergophobia is new here in California and I know that Ergo is working hard to get their clothes onto the racks of stores. If they did get a lot of money to start the business….good for them. At least they are doing something with their money by bringing out quality, awesome art and styles to their clothing. Check it out…their clothes have a touch of class…..very nice. Plus, if they can sit back and let their money talk…then why aren’t their clothes all over Southern California???? It takes a lot of work to get a new clothing line recognized and on the racks. Go ERGO.

Hey Stoked 247, where do you get your mis-information? You are totally out of your mind. Those guys didn’t get a lot of money to start up the business, they worked their asses off to get it going. You really sound bitter and jealous. Not very becoming!!!
What gratification do you get by putting them down like that??Get a life stoked and worry about yourself, not Ergophobia
