“I’m so happy,” Ramos, 24 from Brazil, said. “This is my first win at an Alli event. I’m so stoked to win in China too because it is one of my favorite countries. See you in Boston!”
Austen Seaholm, of Anaheim, Calif., was second at 83.70 and Brazil’s Carlos de Andrade was third with an 83.20.
In the skateboard vert competition, Andy Macdonald, 37, landed two frontside 540 variations. His run also included a 720 to earn a score of 90.00.
“I ended strong,” said Macdonald of Boston, Mass. “I’ve been here in China for two week so I am on China time. I was definitely feeling that China chi.”
Pierre-Luc Gagnon, of Canada, took second place with a 88.25 and Adam Taylor, of Cocoa Beach, Fla., rounded out the podium at 85.50.
The two-day competition is Alli’s second annual international event and features skateboarding vert and park and BMX vert. Sunday’s action features skateboard park finals.
“This weekend showcased some great competitions in front of an enthusiastic crowd,” said Chris Prybylo, Vice President of Events at Alli, the Alliance of Action Sports. “The local organizers were great hosts. They staged an amazing event, and the athletes enjoyed seeing the historic sights of Beijing. We look forward to great television shows on both BTV in Beijing and NBC in the U.S.”
“Everything is coming together for the future of action sports in China,” said Zhou Qiang, President of China New Media Investment Inc. “This year featured a great venue in downtown Beijing that hosted events from the 2008 Olympic Games; we had great crowds, brand new courses, great athletes and competitions. We are looking forward to the third annual China Invitational.”
