Austrian World Cup racer Heidi Krings announced that she is retiring from professional snowboarding.

According to the release, the 26 year old has been suffering from chronic injuries:

During the last few seasons, Heidi has suffered from physical problems and unsolved injuries (like a slipped disc), which forced her riding and, consequently, her results to be unsteady. During last season her best placement was a 7th in Arosa’s PSL, few days before Christmas.

Heidi leaves the World Cup with 127 starts, 8 podiums and a victory, in 2003 at Serre Chevalier, France. She took part at the 2006 Turin Olympic Games in Bardonecchia taking a good 10th place in PGS. In 2002, at Rovaniemi’s Junior World Championships, she won the gold medal in Parallel Giant Slalom.

Heidi now has moved living in Innsbruck, where she is going to attend a banking and economical course.
