Antti Autti announced today a deal to launch his own board line with Nidecker special projects. The partnership will allow Antti to take a more hands on approach with the business, which includes the launch of his new Web site, www.anttisworld.com. The site is scheduled to go live at the end of this month. Details follow in the press release below:
“With NIDECKER an opportunity arose to create something of my own, and have complete say in my boards and how I want them from graphics to technology. I knew of what NDK where doing for YES and I liked the program they had set up. I wanted to create an affordable line of boards that kids could get their hands on easily and be stoked about. I wanted to create something unique and work with artists, musicians and anyone to ad extra depth to what my boards where about and what I had to offer snowboarding and hopefully people will be stoked about it. All this I could do with NDK as they have the ability, the know how and the technology to back it up within Nidecker.”
Antti for NDK, as the project will be known, arose out of discussions with Nidecker’s Henry Nidecker and Robert Etienne on creating a line of limited edition boards for Antti. “For years I have been looking to grow my snowboarding outside of what I have been doing and looking to take the next step and push my riding further.” said Antti from New Zealand. “I have been looking to film more and due to the demise of so many snowboard production teams and the way the industry is moving, I chose to take my destiny into my own hands, leading to the creation of antiisworld.com. The web offers boundless opportunities and a better way of connecting with an audience through the platforms that can be created through it. With this I hope to bring shredders everywhere a direct connection and insight into my world and offer regular video content for audiences everywhere. I wanted to give back something to snowboarding that was fun and also profiled my friends and things I liked and what I do. The boards have risen from the web direction and offering something else to the whole package.”
The board line will feature a standard model that will be launched at trade shows around the globe next February with boards and selected dealers worldwide, featuring graphics by Jim Zbinden of YES fame. Antti will also launch exclusive collaboration boards with select artists and musicians to be sold in limited number and exclusively through his online platform.
Nidecker, the pioneer of Swiss snowboard manufacturing, was chosen by Antti Autti because of their long-standing reputation as one of the most innovative and technologically advanced manufacturers in the world. Antti Autti is working in close collaboration with Nidecker engineers in their Swiss headquarters R&D Lab, to bring together, the stellar quality precision board building of Nidecker and Antti Autti’s legendary riding skills. This partnership will certainly be next season most anticipated release as they fine tune Antti Autti’s shapes with Nidecker’s award winning proprietary technology prior to making their first appearance at SIA and ISPO beginning 2010 and being available worldwide for the 2010-2011 winter season.
Anttisworld.com is set for launch at the end of October and will feature regular video updates and blogs from Antti and his friends as they shred the 09-10 season. Selected trips and highlights throughout the season will also be featured in HD with filming and production being provided by Flatlight Films, so you won’t need to wait until September 2010 for the next latest videos to drop and get your shred fix all season long and beyond. Connect with Antti at anttisworld.com from end of October onwards.

My first reaction as well, but the "NDK" group has existed before and so it seems Antti is just a new pro for that line of boards.

Nice to see the Yes guys inspiring others, at least they have a good message… Did Antti miss the first boat out into "do your own thing" land?

Skate board distribution companies do it, why not snowboard companies. Multi segmented brands for different customers; Why not! Could be a smart way forward in terms of appealing to a core segment, which brands such as Burton are coming under some real heat over right now in the times and recent decisions. You just need to look at the online forums to work that out. Good luck to them and let's see how it goes.
