Williamette Pass, OregonOFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE - Williamette Pass, OR - Mere hours after Colorado’s Aspen Mountain announced a reopening for skiing and snowboarding this weekend, Oregon’s Willamette Pass Ski Area followed suit.

The Oregon Skyway will begin summer gondola operations this Saturday and Sunday with sightseeing to the top of Eagle Peak in the snowcapped Cascades, and Willamette Pass will take the opportunity to offer skiing and snowboarding on the ski area’s Peak 2 lift.

Following one of the most prolific snowfalls in recent history snow is still covering the slopes at Willamette Pass. Additionally, snowfall is in the forecast for the next several days. Regular winter operations at Willamette Pass ceased this year on April 20th, and the previous latest day of skiing operations for Willamette Pass was May 9th, recorded in 2004.

“This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for our resort,” said owner owner Tim Wiper. “In my 26 years of operating the resort I know there has never been snow like this. I hope to see tons of people up here this weekend skiing and riding the slopes of Peak 2 and enjoying the comfort of our Oregon Skyway gondolas, all in the middle of June.
