PRESS RELEASE – 686 is proud to announce the addition of professional snowboarder and big mountaindestroyer Sammy Luebke to its international pro team.
Sammy, an Alaska native and all around mountain man, will be bringing the 686 Plexus series of goods – highly water proof and breathable technical jackets, pants and gloves made for all mountain escapades – to life in the backcountry across the globe this winter as well as collaborating on future designs.
“686 has always made amazing apparel and it was a perfect match when the opportunity presented itself this year,” explains Sammy. “I have already been shredding the Plexus gear and it’s working amazing, plus it has that extra bit of style that most brands don’t add at this level of technicality. I am excited to work with 686 for years to come!”
“Sammy has an old soul and a bank of backcountry knowledge that really separates him from the pack at his age. We are beyond excited to get Sammy and his artistic perspective into our gear for the future,” exclaims Patrick McCarthy, 686 Team Manager. “Be sure to keep your eyes peeled on the mountaintops of the world this winter – this is where you will find Sammy dropping in hot!”
At only 23, Sammy has honed his skills from riding big mountains in Alaska to the spring parks of Tahoe where he currently resides with his wife and daughter. Sammy’s portfolio of big mountain lines speaks for itself and can be seen in the Standard Films releases over the last few years. The current reigning champion of The North Face Masters of Snowboarding, Sammy will compete in every stop of the Swatch Freeride World Tour this winter as well as film a full part with Think Thank.
Sammy joins the current 686 crew including Forest Bailey, Phil Jacques, Marco Feitchtner, Sebi Geiger and Ryan Paul.
