Vail Resorts officials announced to Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) today that it is pulling Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and Keystone out of the group, which serves as the representative for Colorado’s ski industry. The move is expected to seriously impact the trade group’s finances and its status as Colorado’s industry representative.
Vail Resorts officials stated they had “philosophical differences” with other members of CSCUSA about the group’s role of marketing versus public policy work.
“We had hoped to be a catalyst for positive change, but unfortunately, a number of the other members did not agree with our vision and we were unable to resolve these differences,” Vail Resorts CEO Rob Katz said in a press release.
Vail said it wants CSCUSA to focus on “a more traditional public policy role,” and leave marketing efforts to collaborations with the state tourism office, according to Katz.
Revenues for Colorado Ski Country are currently based on season pass sales, of which Vail sells the most in the state.

Just another case of the big guy bullying the little guy. Vail doesn’t stand to lose anything but all the other resorts do. Selish slobs. And to announce this on the same day that all the ski are heads meet up at NSAA - what a bunch of crap!

I wonder if this is why Rob Perlman quit CSCUSA and went to work for Steamboat?

Hey Moby,
Thanks for the worthless link. If you’re going to claim that your site has “real, fresh content,” make sure there actually is something on there regarding the topic being discussed. Otherwise, why don’t you go troll MySpace with your self-serving plugs.
