Shop buyer/manager: Dante Yore
This 2,000-square-foot shop opened eleven years ago and caters to a wide range of customers looking for snow, skate, and surf hardgoods and apparel, according to New York Pipe Dreams’ buyer and manager Dante Yore. With a handful of skate parks close by its Upper East Side location, Pipe Dreams is the sole core shop in Manhattan and gets little competition aside from several larger corporate stores and the nearest shop, KCDC, located in Brooklyn, according to Yore. “Everyone says we are in a recession, but we aren’t seeing it here,” Yore says. BEST SELLING CATEGORIES
1. Hardgoods
“There are two standouts in this category,” Yore says. “As far as snow goes, it would be Ride. For skate, it would be Baker, but I’m sure that’s how it is at most shops across the country. God bless Baker for keeping me in business.”
Best Selling Brand: Ride
“They have been killing it this season for me,” Yore says.
Best Selling SKU: DH
According to Ride’s official Web site, this board was designed with the latest technology, Pop Stixs, which is supposed to give riders the same amount of flex with added ollie pop.
2. Footwear
“I stock anywhere between 200 and 500 styles of shoes at a time,” says Yore. “We go really big into that. Our whole back wall is dedicated to footwear.”

“Out of my shoe section, 40 percent are Nike SB, “ Yore says.
Best Selling SKU: Dunk Hi
The Nike SB Dunk Hi Big Gulp is one of the newer styles the shop received over the holidays, according to newyorkpipedreams.com.
3. Apparel
“Usually when it comes to apparel we move a lot of the screen-print T-shirts,” says Yore.
Best Selling Brand: Emerica
Emerica has been a long-time stand out at New York Pipe Dreams.
Best Selling SKU: Logo T-shirts
“Anything that has a company logo on it seems to sell pretty well in our shop,” Yore says. “Any black T-shirt with a red or yellow logo is always our most popular. “
