Is That It? Is That All For This Season’s Race?
What was looking to be a solid battle coming out of the gates has became more akin to watching Michael Phelps race a diapered baby in water wings this month. October saw Travis Rice garner nearly 17,000 points. Rice has racked up just 900 fewer points than Andreas Wiig got all last season to claim the title, and nearly as many points as runners-up Danny Kass and Devun Walsh combined! He received an avalanche of ad support from Quik, Lib, and DC, and pullout posters in Snowboarder and TransWorld (his second in as many months) will have him gracing the walls of more dorm rooms than the Grateful Dead and Jenna Jameson combined. Snowboarder’s profile of Rice didn’t hurt his standings, or photographer Tim Zimmerman’s either, bumping them to the top of the editorial and photographer charts respectively.

The battle for the rest of the top ten got interesting with some up-and-comers cracking the ceiling. We’d like to bid a hearty welcome to Pat Moore, Eric Jackson, and Eero Ettala. A few other riders that hit the juice in October were Laura Hadar, Gretchen Bleiler, and Dustin Cravin—who all moved up in the rankings by at least 75 places to land in the top 50. The ladies continue to make a strong stand this year. Jamie Anderson edged her way up one spot to eighth and Janna Meyen’s TransWorld interview brought her to the same slot in the edit race and 21st overall. Another shout out has to go to Johan Olafsson who made it into the top 25, and the top five editorially, for the first time in a long time.

Check back next month and see if anybody has the juice to boost over Rice’s formidable lead. To see the entire Snow Exposure Meter for November click HERE.

that’s not it for rice’s counterpart Scotty Lago- as he’ll have the cover and two pullouts besides about 9 photos in the superpark issue!
