By the standards he set last month, 2,500 points was a relatively slow showing for Travis Rice, but it was more than enough to buffer his sizeable lead and keep the rest of the pack choking on his dust. However, the peloton is getting interesting on Rice’s heels and the battle for the rest of the top ten is up in the air as just over 2,000 points separate Simon Chamberlain in 10th and Devun Walsh in third.

Fueled by heavy advertising and a weightier feature, J.P. Walker led a breakaway from 19th place up to fourth for the month’s biggest top end rally and aptly earned his feature’s blurb: “Not Done Son.” Eero Ettala also hit the gas to round out the top five through the November issues.

There was some musical chair-esque action at the top of the heap and forty percent of the faces in the top ten are new. Joining Walker at the head of the class is teammate Simon Chamberlain in 10th, jibbin’ Jeremy Jones in 8th, and Stevie Bell in 7th.

Speaking of hitting the gas, the biggest mover award goes to Eddie Wall who stepped it up from 247th to 50th. Bjorn Leines ain’t looking too bad either after commuting from the exurbs at 151st to 18th with the month’s biggest point tally of 7,300 thanks to a serious pow session in Shandyland documented in Snowboarder and four spread ads from Volcom and Rome.

There was also a shake up in the logo war with Oakley vaulting over perennial leader Burton with some serious coverage of riders running the big O, and DC is nipping at Big B’s heels.

Look for Wolle Nyvelt and Torstein Horgmo to make a play next month as the battle for the title, or at least runner up, starts getting real interesting.
