AS REPORTED IN OCTOBER TRANSWORLD BUSINESS:
Silas Creeps Up To Third
Ok, things just got interesting. Malto is closing in fast, and Silas Baxter Neal made a quantum leap this month. Thanks to a cover (Thrasher’s Summer Issue) and an eighteen-page interview and contents spread (Thrasher September issue), Silas hopped straight over Johnny Layton and Ryan Sheckler and landed in a comfortable third place.

You may notice that there’s no September Slap in the tally this month, but that’s only because it usually shows up close to, or after, the deadline for this thing. So rather than wait and delay the mag, I’ll just pick it up for next month. It has nothing to do with their recent announcement to go all-digital. According to Slap Editor Mark Whiteley, they are continuing with the print mag through December. And lest you think I might get bored or lazy, I included the Thrasher Summer Issue for this tally, so there’s still a solid five mags.
There were some good leaps in the Top 50 this month. It was Andrew Reynolds’ turn for Emerica ads, so he clocked a good 4,000 points, bringing him from 17th to sixth on the ad chart, and to 18th from 26th overall. That’s one hell of a fakie tre! With an 8-page interview and cover in The Skateboard Mag, Mr. Daewon Song climbed up the overall charts, from 48th to 21st. As well, Kenny Hoyle jumped onto the Top 50 charts thanks to a 12-page interview in Transworld.
So Malto’s within 4,000 points of Johnson, and Silas is 4,000 points behind Malto. A cover and a couple ads could do the trick here. Or an interview. Or if someone really shines on a tour… See you next month!
