2007’s reigning Skater Of The Year, Marc Johnson, is the winner of the coveted Skate Exposure-Meter overall editorial coverage in 2008 award (note to self: come up with a shorter name for that). With covers, interviews, and ads galore, MJ came out strong and maintained his position all throughout the year.

By the time October rolled around, rookie pro Sean Malto and 2008 SOTY Silas Baxter-Neal were moving in on MJ and came pretty close, but in the end it wasn’t enough to topple the champ.

This month Eli Reed and Leo Romero both logged some major points with interviews in Skateboarder and SLAP, but it was Peter Ramondetta who really came up—C1RCA ads, a poster, a cover, and 16-page interview in TransWorld. This month’s coverage was enough to land Peter in 26th place for advertising, 25th place for editorial, and 23rd place overall. Peter’s sticker packet was also integral in landing C1RCA at ninth place and Real at 36th in the logo wars.

This month we bid a fond farewell to SLAP magazine—in its printed incarnation, at least. I can’t say I’ll miss tallying you every month, but I’ll miss reading you.

And now that Silas is SOTY, we can expect a strong showing in 2009—look for covers, interviews, and more from skateboarding’s new golden child.
