TransWorld Business caught up with Mike Rogers, founder of Grind For Life, before the Dew Tour in Orlando where he was on hand at the Richard Petty Speedway to take some hot Nascar laps and accept a donation from Matador Beef Snacks. We had a chance to talk with Rogers about the organization’s mission to provide financial assistance to cancer patients and families when they are traveling due to doctor visits and extended hospital stays. Rogers’ own story is an inspiring one, and has everything to do with why he decided to create the organization back in 2003. A life-long skater, Rogers was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer twice. The second time around, doctors found a tumor located behind his right eye and nasal cavity, and Rogers endured a 17-hour surgery, a cranial-facial resection with a brain lift, removal of his eye, cheekbone, and half of the roof of his mouth and some teeth. Despite such a traumatic procedure, Rogers is now skateboarding competitively again. Check out what he has to say about Grind For Life and read more information about the organization below:
