Jack's Co-owners Ronnie and Bobby Abdel
In early November Jack’s Surfboards signed a lease for a 6,500 square-foot retail space located at 1630 Pacific Coast Highway Hermosa Beach, California. It will be the store’s seventh location, and while considerably smaller than Jack’s other six locations Co-owner Bobby Abdel says it will have the same look and feel of the other stores, as well as a similar product mix.
“We’ve been looking in Hermosa for a year-and-a-half, but finally we found a location that we like,” he says. “We’d like to have a little bit bigger space, but we took it because we like where it’s located.”

Abdel says that the store will open between February–March 2010, and that initially it will carry the same brands as other locations until they can track sales performance in the area. “We’ll be carrying the same product mix right now because it’s going to take us until the end of the summer to learn the area and to understand what those customers are looking for.”
Jack’s opened a 9,500 square-foot store in Irvine last fall and purchased a 10,000 square-foot building in downtown San Clemente in 2008. Abdel says that plans to open the San Clemente location have been put on hold for two years. “We hope the economy will turn around by then, so we rented out that space for the next two years.”
