SIMA chairman emeritus and industry veteran Dick Baker, along with BRA chairman and ZJ’s Boarding House co-owner Todd Roberts addressed a group of approximately 120 retailers and manufacturers Thursday, March 19 at an industry-wide Bootcamp, presented by SIMA and BRA at Huntington Beach’s Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort. Baker and Roberts both emphasized the importance of industry members looking for opportunities to become stronger in the current economic climate.

“I personally have my own opinon of the economy and what’s going to happen,” Baker said. “I think we as a sector are far ahead of the recovery process and [have] the ability to be doing successful business within the next twelve to eighteen months.”

The conference was broken out into two specific groups, for retailers and manufacturers respectively, with presenters such as Path to the Rack Consultant Charlie Cotton, Reef’s V.P. of Marketing Kevin Flanagan, Strategic Results’ Alan Roseman and Quiksilver’s former senior V.P. of Retail Gregg Solomon.
