The 15th Annual Surfside Snow Carnival/Pre-Season Sale in Newport Beach was once again a huge success this year. People came out on Saturday, Nov. 1, in droves to play carnival games put together by the vendors, and buy raffle tickets with the chance to win some really great prizes.
The Volcom people broght in a Taco wagon, and people were stoked to eat some great, and I mean great, Authenic Mexican Tacos. Steve Van Doren from Vans was making Waffles in the morning for breakfast, and they were a huge hit. The Program people were cooking hamburgers and hot dogs from their portable grill.
Inside the store it was mayhem. All the Reps that weren’t outside maning their booths, were inside selling product. It was a huge competition between the Lib Tech people and the Burton people to see who could sell the most boards.
Joel Olnik from Electric sold 15 pairs of goggles that day, along with five or six pairs of shades. Carter from ThirtyTwo sold tons of boots as did Doug Croger from DC. All in all, it was a great day to be in the Snow Biz!
Some other “Notables” in attendance: Rich Woolcot, Tom Ruiz, Dutch Shultz, Billy Anderson, Jason Steris, Danny Geary from Volcom. Bjorn Leines was here with the Celtic Rep. The whole So. Cal Burton team was here along with Dave Downing. Dave Rosenburger, Tom Holbrook, and Willy Morris were here supporting Mo-Daddy and his crew in the Quiksilver booth.
