AGENDA NEW YORK’S MOST SUCCESSFUL SHOW TO DATE
LONG BEACH, CALIF. (FEBRUARY 2013) – The Agenda Show continued to build momentum during its 10-year anniversary with the most successful Agenda NY show to date. Almost 200 brands graced the 82 Mercer space by debuting their action sports, street wear, fashion lifestyle, sneaker culture, women’s and accessories collections to a slew of influential buyers.
“This Agenda Show was our most successful New York show to date,” said Agenda founder Aaron Levant. “Based on the exhibitor feedback, these 2 days by far exceeded all of our expectations. The positive response was overwhelming and we look to take this energy and expand on the Agenda New York show in the year to come.”
The first day of the show was packed like a New York street during rush hour, a reflection of the buzz of the Big Apple, with brands generating orders with key retailers, including Zumiez, CCS, Nordstrom, Pacific Sunwear, Fred Segal, Karmaloop, and Urban Outfitters. In addition to the strong buyer traffic, the DEW / Rad Collector lounge featured exclusive interviews with long term Agenda brands such as Huf, Diamond, Staple, 5boro, Black Scale, and 10 Deep. Flex Fit also returned with their popular Base Camp lounges presenting live art and photo installations by Mel D. Cole, Klughaus Gallery, and Craig Stecyk.
“Agenda, as a two-part show, provides us the opportunity to more effectively work with our key brands in a comfortable setting and browse the marketplace to discover what’s new,” said CCS brand director Seamus Deegan. “The NYC show, being just down the street, is a great time to conduct follow-ups bringing more of our team into the meetings. The energy and traffic in NYC seemed to be ramped up considerably, good to see all the brands who are now making the trip out. Even if it was freezing here.”
After a record setting first day, the 10 year anniversary of the Agenda Show was celebrated in style with a Herschel X New Balance release party, a Black Scale / Diamond private event, and a Ghostface Killah show, put on by 5Boro and Altamont. As the show opened its doors on the second day, lines flowed out the front door and made way for two packed floors bustling with retailers who were not only looking to close business, but to see the future of the industry.
“Being in the men’s buying world for 9 years, it was my first time attending Agenda [NYC]. The caliber of brands was strong and definitely relevant as the men’s market has incorporated surf and street aesthetics into mainstream dressing,” said Scoop NYC buyer Puja Desai. “Agenda is definitely a show that I will be attending in upcoming seasons not just for new upcoming brands, but to uncover new trends.”
Levant has plans in place to accelerate Agenda’s growth, both nationally and globally. Agenda will continue to focus on bringing together the fashion lifestyle, action sports and street culture industries in a setting that provides an equal footing for all brands to see the most influential buyers across every retail segment.
“It’s exciting to see street wear merging with skate in a single platform at Agenda,” said Nordstrom online buyer Daniel A. Drewes. “Street wear seems like it is making a strong return everywhere from high designer to skate, and we know the consumer is mixing it high-low too.”
Agenda New York will return on July 10-11, 2013 and Agenda Long Beach will be held on July 25-26, 2013 with many more surprises set to be unveiled in honor of Agenda’s 10 year anniversary.
